IT'S ALL ABOUT COOKIE: THE MONTHLY AWARDS RESULTS

It's time to announce the winners of the final monthly awards results. We asked you to pick the best player, best goal and your favourite match from the month of April and this is how you voted.

Last months runner up, Lee Cook finally has first monthly awards win of the season as you have named him player of the month for April.

Cookie wins with nearly forty percent of all your votes leaving a very deserving Stefan Bailey in second place and Mauro Milanese in third. Cook's win this month means he is our last entrant into the season awards vote, which will be online later this week.

Look out for Skinner's Re-View later this month where Simon will look back over the performances that won Cook this months award.

   
Goal of the Month

All the goals from April received some votes, even Nygaard's penalty against Watford! But once again it was Lee Cook who dominated the vote making it a double celebration for the Rangers winger. His strike against Norwich might not have earned us any points but it was good enough to be named as your goal of the month for April 2006.

Cook's goal, as described in Simon's match report "Cook picked up the ball just inside the Norwich half and set off toward goal. He jinked past Hughes and then mugged Doherty before sending the ball past Gallacher from the edge of the box. The home fans were steaming now and the anti Worthington protests grew ever louder."

Norwich 3 - 2 QPR 31.71%
Reading 2 - 1 QPR 26.83%
QPR 1 - 2 Watford 24.39%
QPR 1 - 1 Derby 17.07%
It's not often a defeat wins the match of the month vote, then again there wasn't much else to choose from! As a result the 3-2 defeat at Norwich just beats the 2-1 defeats against Reading and Watford to be name April's best match.


So that's it for April and for this season, we now have all our nominations in place and later this week we'll be asking you to vote for the best player, goal and game of the the past season. Interestingly Danny Shittu hasn't won player of the month once this season so the official player of the season will not be eligible for our vote.
