MATCH RATINGS ANALYSIS

Wednesday 30th May 2007
by Ron Norris

All season long you have been rating the players performances by marking each of them with a score between 1 and 10. We've told you the averages on a game by game basis but how did things shape up over the whole season?

Here we take a look at the averages from the campaign and see how you judged the teams efforts overall. We've ruled out anyone who started less than five games this season as that doesn't produce a fair score.

For the second season running a goalkeeper is your highest rated player, last year Paul Jones took the honours, this year though it's Lee Camp at the top of the table. His average rating of 7.43 shows he barely put a foot wrong in your eyes and he is the only player to achieve an average rating of over seven!

The player of the season, Lee Cook, was only in second place, no doubt dragged down by some of his team mates efforts in the poor games this campaign, whilst Adam Bolder was your third highest rated player of the season.

At the other end of the table it's little surprise to see Zesh Rehman propping things up, his average rating of 5.08 was even worse than Stefan Moore managed to score last season.

The highest individual match rating was achieved by Lee Cook, his earned a score of 8.87 for his performance in the home win over Crystal Palace. Conversely it'll come as little surprise that Zesh Rehman earned the worst individual rating of the season, he scored just 2.16 for his efforts in the shameful away defeat at Southend.

Once again we have two managers scores to look at, although there isn't really a massive comparison! Gary Waddock scored just 4.95 as an average mark from his games in charge, his best score being a 7.27 for the home win over Southend whilst his worst was a 2.89 for away game at Colchester.

Meanwhile John Gregory averaged 6.05 over the remainder of the season, his highest praise was a score of 8.42 for the 1-0 away win at Cardiff whilst you were most scathing about the 5-0 hammering at Roots Hall, for which you only gave him a mark of 2.26

The officials fared about as well as they always do, over the course of the season you rated the refs with an average score of exactly 5, your favourite refereeing performance was that of Dermot Gallagher, who scored 7.38 for his efforts in the home game against Burnley whilst Trevor Kettle was the man that raised your ire the most, he scored just 1.71 for his performance in the last home game of the season against Stoke.

Finally, and new for this season, was the chance to rate the opposition, the highest rated team was Sunderland for their victory at The Stadium of Light, they scored 8.24 for that game whilst Hull were given the worst rating of the season after visiting Loftus Road, they received a score of just 3.63 for that game.

The match ratings votes will return in the new season, thanks for taking part over the last ten months, here are the full average ratings.
