Blackburn and Jones were allowed bitter swipes through the clubs
official website on the way out, Blackburn in particular stating
he felt that “the board has not functioned in a manner that I
believe to be correct since April of this year” however his tone
had softened slightly by the time he spoke to the London Evening
Standard where he told them that “the
club is in good hands”.
Blackburn had been on the board for eight years
and played a key role in all of the clubs recent inglorious
history, including the attempted merger with (what was once)
Wimbledon football club.
Jones was a director for five years and despite
his insulting thoughts on fans/customers/Marks and Spencer he
did, at least, put money into the club at crucial times, which
is more than some have done.
Kevin McGrath takes Jones’ position as plc
Chairman whilst Bill Power becomes football club chairman. A QPR
fan as QPR chairman, whatever next!
Talking of Chris Wright, he popped up in
Saturday’s Times newspaper bleating on about his terrible hard
luck during his time at Rangers. "You don't get any thanks at
all for what you put in to football” he said.
Well sometimes you do Chris, but when you take a
perfectly healthy football club and manage to make it lose £27
million in four years, nearly killing it in the process then
walk away from the problem you created then no, you probably
wouldn’t get any thanks. Some might say you wouldn’t deserve
them either.
