DI CARMINE SIGNS UP
Tuesday 1st July 2008

Rangers today
signed up their second promising youngster from Serie A with the arrival
of striker Samuel Di Carmine from Fiorentina.
Following hot on
the heels of Emmanuel Jorge Ledesma from Genoa, this seems to be another
player that will likely need time to adapt to the rigours of
Championship football.
Unlike his new
Argentine team mate, he has played and scored in the first team at
Fiorentina, the 19 year old has had a run out in the league and in the
UEFA cup and indeed bagged his only goal for the Viola in a 6-1 romp
against Swedish side Elfsborg.
Dowie has already
moved to temper expectations by stating that this seasons loan is “a
good opportunity to have a closer look at him”, which sounds to me as
though he has not necessarily been brought in with this season, or
certainly the first half of this season, in mind.
It will be
interesting to see what the next couple of weeks brings in terms of
transfer activity as the two signings so far, whilst undoubtedly players
of promise, are far from the finished articles many fans hoped would
arrive. |
